One of the biggest myths I hear this time of year? “I’ll wait until fall for any peels or microneedling—summer isn’t the time, right?” Actually, the opposite is often true. With the right treatment and approach, chemical peels and microneedling can be done safely during the summer months—and your skin might benefit from them now more than ever. At The Aesthetics Collective, I offer options that are gentle, effective, and personalized to your skin: including the VI Peel, Linder Health Peels, and microneedling paired with Linder Health’s post-treatment peel for enhanced results.
Here’s what you should know—and how to make it work for your summer schedule and skin goals.
Why Summer Skin Needs Extra Support
Between heat, humidity, sweat, sunscreen, travel, and clogged pores, your skin is working overtime during summer. Even if it looks glowy in the short term, what’s happening underneath might be concerning. Your skin may experience:
Accelerated buildup
More breakouts
Worsening pigmentation
Slower cell turnover
That’s where light to moderate chemical exfoliation and regenerative treatments like microneedling can work in your favor—as long as they’re done with skin integrity and barrier support in mind.
Treatment Options That Work in Warm Weather
VI Peel
A medical-grade, medium-depth peel that is effective for treating pigmentation, acne, and texture issues. It’s self-neutralizing, well-researched, and safe for all skin types, including darker tones.
Good for: Acne, melasma, sun damage, dull texture
Downtime: 3–7 days of visible peeling
When to schedule: Give yourself 10–14 days before a major event or travel
Linder Health Peels
These peels are ideal for routine maintenance, barrier support, and subtle skin correction. I use them as standalones or post-microneedling finishers. Here’s what I offer:
HERO Peel – Your Go-To Reset for Texture, Tone, and Early Aging
The HERO Peel is an advanced blend designed for all skin types. It targets discoloration, dullness, and early signs of aging—stimulating cell turnover with mandelic, lactic, and salicylic acids, plus tranexamic acid for pigment correction.
Best for: Uneven tone, texture, fine lines, yellowing, and barrier fatigue
Key Ingredients: Mandelic acid, lactic acid, tranexamic acid, salicylic acid
Why it works: It exfoliates microscopically—no sheets of peeling—and restores healthy skin metabolism.
Downtime: Light flaking or none
Spot(less) Peel – For Breakouts, Oil, and Stubborn Acne Marks
This formula is powerful yet safe for breakout-prone skin. Spot(less) works by unclogging pores, controlling oil, and reducing inflammation—without stripping the skin. It’s layered with antibacterial ingredients to calm current blemishes while preventing new ones.
Best for: Active acne, congestion, oily skin, PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation)
Key Ingredients: Mandelic acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, hexylresorcinol, ethyl linoleate
Downtime: Minimal to light flaking
Polite Peel – Gentle Resurfacing for Sensitive or Compromised Skin
Polite is all about calming the skin while encouraging cell renewal. It’s ideal for rosacea-prone, reactive, or sensitized skin after travel or harsh products. With a hydrating base of glycerin and gentle exfoliants, it leaves skin smoother, more resilient, and visibly brighter.
Best for: Redness, dehydration, barrier damage, mild texture or tone issues
Key Ingredients: Glycerin, lactic acid, mandelic acid, tranexamic acid
Downtime: None to subtle flaking
Why I love it: It restores without stressing your skin
Microneedling with Linder Health Post-Treatment Peel
Microneedling stimulates collagen, improves texture, and minimizes fine lines or acne scars. I layer on a Linder Health peel post-treatment to boost hydration, calm inflammation, and enhance glow—without adding downtime.
Good for: Acne, texture, scarring, pore size, dullness, early laxity
Downtime: 1–3 days of redness and possible light flaking
When to schedule: 1–2 weeks before events
Is It Safe in the Summer? Yes—With These Tips
You don’t need to avoid treatments in summer; you just need to be smart about timing and aftercare. Here’s how I guide clients post-peel or microneedling:
Wear SPF daily (broad-spectrum, mineral or hybrid preferred)
Avoid direct sun for 5–7 days post-treatment
Stick to gentle skincare—skip exfoliants for a week
Hydrate your skin and your body
Reach out if anything feels off—I’m always here to support your healing
The Importance of Skin Maintenance
Just like going to the gym, skin treatments work best with consistency. Waiting until fall to “restart” can leave you playing catch-up with pigment, texture, and breakouts. Summer is about adjusting—not pausing.
A Simple Plan for Summer Treatments
If you’re unsure where to begin, here’s my usual recommendation:
1. Book a skincare consultation or microneedling session. We’ll evaluate your skin and determine if a summer peel, gentle resurfacing, or microneedling boost is suitable.
2. Start with either a peel or microneedling (if it's your first time). These are great entry points—minimal downtime, maximum glow.
3. Add in a VI Peel strategically. Once you’ve established a good baseline, we can plan a VI Peel when you’re mostly indoors or able to accommodate 5–7 recovery days.
4. Maintain every 4–6 weeks with either a peel, microneedling, or a combination protocol based on your skin’s condition.
